OUR COMMUNITY COMMITMENT

Terrance Cares: Giving Back to the Communities We Serve

Terrance Cares is how we put that idea into action. It’s our community giving initiative, and it’s the reason our team spends time, money, and resources on causes that don’t show up on an invoice. We partner with nonprofits, sponsor community events, and quietly support families walking through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

If you’re a nonprofit leader, a community organizer, a family searching for answers, or a survivor rebuilding your life — keep reading. This page is for you.

Our Values

The Communities We Serve Have Always Served Us First

In our experience working hundreds of cases nationwide, the people who walk into a private investigator’s office are rarely there because life is going well. They’ve lost someone. They’ve been betrayed. They’re scared. They need answers, and they need them fast. Sometimes they can afford our standard rates, and sometimes they can’t — but the urgency is the same either way.

After 17+ years across all 50 states, we’ve also learned something else: this work doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Every community that’s trusted us with their families’ worst days has given us something back — a reputation, a referral, a reason to keep doing this work. Terrance Cares is one of the ways we try to return the favor.

AREAS OF FOCUS

The Causes Terrance Cares Supports Year-Round

Our giving is focused — we’d rather make a meaningful difference in a few areas than spread ourselves thin across dozens. The causes we support all connect, in one way or another, to the work we do every day.

01

Domestic violence survivors and shelters

sit at the top of our list. The most common challenge our team faces in infidelity and surveillance work is supporting clients who are leaving unsafe relationships. We partner with shelters and survivor advocacy organizations to provide funding, awareness, and — where appropriate — pro bono investigative support for protective order cases.

02

Missing persons families

get a meaningful share of our attention every year. Not every missing person case makes the news, and not every family has the resources to hire a private investigator when law enforcement has moved on. Through Terrance Cares, we periodically take on missing persons matters at no cost when the family situation warrants it and our team has capacity to help.

03

Youth and mentorship programs

matter to us because the next generation of investigators, security professionals, and community leaders is being shaped right now. We sponsor youth athletic programs, support schools, and mentor young people who are curious about careers in investigations, law enforcement, and the legal field.

04

Veterans and first responders

form the backbone of the private investigations industry. Many of the contractors who work with our firm came up through military or law enforcement service. Terrance Cares supports veteran-focused nonprofits and first responder family events.

05

Veterans and first responders

churches, civic groups, block associations, small community nonprofits — are the connective tissue of every community we operate in. We show up for them with sponsorships, in-kind support, and presence at the events that matter to the people doing the work on the ground.

HOW IT WORKS

What Terrance Cares Actually Looks Like in Practice

We try not to make a lot of noise about this work, but here’s an honest picture of what Terrance Cares involvement looks like in a given year.

The Schedule Stopped Making Sense

We sponsor community events — sometimes with a check, sometimes with a booth and a few of our investigators handing out personal safety information, sometimes with both. You'll find Terrance PI logos on shelter walls, athletic jerseys, fundraiser programs, and community newsletters across the country.

The Phone Became a Second Spouse

We take pro bono cases when the situation calls for it. These are typically missing persons matters, protective order surveillance for domestic violence survivors, or background checks for families trying to protect a vulnerable loved one. We don't advertise this work or post about it after the fact — the families involved deserve their privacy, not a marketing moment.

The Money Tells a Different Story Than the Words

We show up to speak — at high schools, community colleges, civic groups, women's organizations, and faith communities — about personal safety, recognizing the signs of relationship deception, protecting yourself from romance fraud, and what to do when someone you love goes missing.

PARTNERSHIPS

Nonprofits and Community Partners We Work With

We’re intentional about who we partner with. Every nonprofit relationship we build through Terrance Cares is one we expect to last for years, not one event cycle. Our partner organizations share a common thread — they’re run by people who treat their mission like a calling, not a job.

If you lead a nonprofit, run a community program, or coordinate a local event that aligns with the causes above, we’d genuinely like to hear from you. We can’t say yes to every request, but we read every one — and the partnerships that have meant the most to us started with a simple email.

This part needs to be said clearly: we are not a replacement for law enforcement, and we cannot take every case that comes our way. But if you're a family member of a missing person, a survivor of domestic violence trying to build a protective order case, or someone in a hardship situation where a licensed private investigator could make a real difference — please reach out.

Page Building

When you contact us through Terrance Cares, share your situation honestly. Tell us what's happened, what you've tried, what law enforcement has said, and what you believe an investigator could do that hasn't been done. Our team reviews every request personally. If we can help, we'll tell you. If we can't take the case ourselves, we'll do our best to point you toward a resource that can.

Bringing the Conversation to Your Community

Founder Terrance is a regular media voice on infidelity investigations, romance fraud, and family safety — most recently on Fox 26 Houston’s The Isiah Factor Uncensored. Through Terrance Cares, he’s available on a pro bono or reduced-rate basis to speak at community events, women’s groups, schools, churches, and nonprofit fundraisers on topics including recognizing the signs of infidelity, protecting yourself from online romance scams, what to do when a loved one is missing, and what private investigations actually look like in real life.

If you’re planning an event and think your audience would benefit from a candid conversation on any of these topics, send us a note with the date, the audience, and what you’re trying to accomplish.

Why Terrance PI Approaches Community Work Differently

In our experience, the firms that do community work well are the ones that do it quietly and consistently. We try to be that kind of firm.

A lot of firms write a check at the end of the year and call it community involvement. We’ve never operated that way. Terrance Cares is built into how we run the business — from the agreements our investigators sign, to the cases we accept, to the events we show up for on weekends. Our team treats this work the same way we treat paying cases: with discretion, professionalism, and the understanding that the people we’re helping are going through something that matters.

GET INVOLVED

Partner, Nominate, or Support Terrance Cares

There are a few ways to engage with Terrance Cares. Nonprofits and community organizations looking to partner can reach out through our standard contact form and mention “Terrance Cares Partnership” in the message. Families requesting pro bono investigative help should send us the details of their situation through the same form, marked “Terrance Cares Request.” Event organizers looking to book Terrance as a speaker can reach out with the date, audience, and topic.

For everyone else — if you’ve been touched by our work or want to support what we’re doing in your community — the best thing you can do is tell someone. Tell a friend going through a hard time that there’s a firm that cares. Tell a nonprofit leader we’d love to hear from them. Tell a family searching for a missing loved one that they don’t have to go through it alone.

That’s the heart of Terrance Cares. Always has been.

FAQ's

Hiring a Dallas Private Investigator

Navigating the legalities and logistics of a private investigation can be complex. We provide clear, honest answers to help you understand how our process works and what to expect from our licensed investigators.

What types of private investigator services do you offer?

Terrance Private Investigator & Associates offers a full suite of services across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including infidelity surveillance, child custody evidence, high-net-worth asset searches, and corporate fraud investigations. Whether you’re in Highland Park or Frisco, we provide localized expertise for every case.

Yes. Every Dallas private investigator on our team is fully licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). We operate strictly under the Texas Private Security Act, ensuring that all evidence gathered—from GPS tracking to undercover video—is legally obtained and admissible in Texas courts.

Absolutely. Under Texas law and our firm’s strict internal ethics, your consultation is 100% private. We use secure, encrypted communication channels to protect your identity and the sensitive details of your case from the very first phone call.

Every case is different. A standard background check in Dallas County typically takes 48 to 72 hours. However, surveillance operations (such as cheating spouse or worker’s comp cases) often require 3 to 5 days of field work to establish a definitive pattern of activity and capture conclusive evidence.

Pricing is case-specific and depends on the type of investigation, the time required, and any specialized resources needed. We provide clear, transparent pricing during the consultation — no hidden fees.
