Our Commitment to Professional Investigative Services

Terrance Private Investigator and Associates is a licensed private investigation agency dedicated to delivering professional, results-driven investigative services across Texas and nationwide. Every case we accept involves the immediate investment of licensed investigator time, proprietary databases, surveillance resources, and case preparation work. Because of this, all retainers paid to Terrance PI are non-refundable once investigative work has commenced, as clearly outlined in the Retainer Agreement signed by each client prior to engagement.

We encourage every prospective client to review this private investigator refund policy in full before retaining our services. Private Investigator Retainer Policy

All investigative services require a signed Retainer Agreement and payment of a retainer fee before any work begins. The retainer is applied directly toward the cost of your investigation. Once investigative work has commenced, the non-refundable retainer stands regardless of the outcome of the investigation. Terrance PI makes no guarantee as to the findings of any investigation, and the absence of findings does not constitute grounds for a refund.

This retainer policy applies to all private investigator services offered by Terrance PI including surveillance investigations, infidelity investigations, child custody investigations, background checks, asset searches, missing person investigations, and all other investigative services.

Refund Exceptions for Investigative Services

Refunds are issued at the sole discretion of Terrance Private Investigator and Associates and are not guaranteed under any circumstance. In the rare event that a refund is approved, the following deductions will apply before any amount is returned to the client:

• A $500 consultation fee will be deducted to cover the time and expertise of the licensed private investigator who assessed your case.
• A $250 administrative and case preparation fee will also be deducted to cover intake processing, documentation review, and internal case setup costs.

Any approved refund will be processed within 5 to 15 business days from the date of approval, depending on your financial institution. Terrance PI is not responsible for delays caused by your bank or payment processor.

Consultation Fees for Investigative Services

Initial consultations with Terrance PI are provided as a professional service and reflect the time and expertise of a licensed private investigator in Texas. If you choose to retain Terrance PI following your consultation, the $500 PI consultation fee in Texas is waived and applied toward your retainer. If you choose not to move forward with investigative services after your consultation has taken place, the $500 consultation fee remains due and payable. If a retainer was collected prior to the consultation, the $500 fee will be deducted before any remaining balance is returned.

Credit Card Payments and Chargeback Policy

Terrance PI accepts all major credit and debit cards processed securely through Stripe. By signing a Retainer Agreement and authorizing payment, clients acknowledge and agree to the terms of this private investigator refund policy and accept that all retainer payments are non-refundable once work has commenced.

If a client initiates a chargeback with their bank or credit card provider following the signing of a Retainer Agreement, Terrance PI will take the following actions without exception:

• Submit full documentation to the client’s financial institution including the signed Retainer Agreement, payment authorization records, case file history, and all communication logs as proof of valid and authorized charges.
• Pursue all available civil and criminal legal remedies against the client for fraudulent claims, theft of investigative services, and breach of contract under applicable Texas and federal law.

Filing a false or fraudulent chargeback after signing a binding Retainer Agreement is considered theft of services and will be treated accordingly. Terrance PI maintains comprehensive records of all client engagements specifically to defend against unauthorized chargeback disputes against private investigator services.

Client Investigator Confidentiality and Privilege

All cases handled by Terrance PI are governed by client investigator confidentiality. We take the privacy of every client seriously and do not disclose case details, client identity, or investigation findings to any third party without written consent, except as required by law.

Confidentiality protections are conditional on the client upholding their obligations under the Retainer Agreement. If a client engages in fraudulent claims, initiates an unauthorized chargeback, fails to remit payment for services rendered, or otherwise breaches the terms of the Retainer Agreement, the client investigator confidentiality clause is considered void as it applies to that client.

In such circumstances, Terrance PI reserves the right to disclose relevant case details in legal proceedings, to financial institutions disputing charges, or to any other party necessary to recover outstanding balances, enforce contractual rights, and protect the business from financial loss under Texas and federal law.

How to Submit a Private Investigator Refund Request

If you believe you qualify for a refund under the exceptions outlined in this private investigator refund policy, submit your request using the form on this page. All refund requests are reviewed within 48 hours of receipt. To avoid delays, ensure all information submitted is accurate and complete including your case number, investigation type, payment date, and the last four digits of the card used.

Approved refunds will be confirmed by email and processed within 5 to 15 business days depending on your financial institution.
