Confidential investigations for the moments that matter most to your family

You already know something is wrong. That’s usually why people call us. In our experience working hundreds of family cases nationwide since 2009, nobody hires an investigator to catch someone — they hire one to stop wondering. We document what’s happening, discreetly and legally, then explain what it means in plain English. Everything stays confidential.

The phone flipped face-down, the new gym schedule, the password you no longer have. We document it discreetly.
Judges don’t rule on suspicion. We build the record that shows what’s really happening in the other household.
When a case goes cold or never gets opened at all, families are left searching alone. We pick it up from there.
Before she moves in with him. Before you sign with the contractor. Due diligence is cheaper than the alternative.
An elderly parent who stopped picking up. Someone lays eyes on them, confirms they’re safe, and calls you today.
People who owe you money. Witnesses your attorney needs. Addresses go stale — we find the current one.

Whatever you are walking through right now, one of our investigators has walked someone else through it before. That matters more than it sounds like it does. It means they know where the evidence usually hides in a case like yours, which leads are worth the hours and which ones are not, and how to document what they find so it holds up when it counts. We do not bill you for effort. We are paid to bring you an answer, and after 17+ years of doing exactly that, we know how to go get one.

Nobody finds out you hired us. Not your spouse, not your in-laws, not the person we’re looking into.
Evidence is timestamped, documented, and preserved with a clean chain of custody an attorney can use.
Real updates from a real person. In our experience, silence is what clients resent most about their last investigator.
Local investigators who know the courts, the neighborhoods, and how to get answers where you live.
Sometimes we find nothing. Sometimes worse than you expected. After 17+ years, we’ve learned you deserve to hear it plainly.
You’ll know the retainer, the rate, and what happens if the case expands — before you sign anything.

You don’t have to have it figured out before you call. Tell us what’s going on, and we’ll tell you honestly whether an investigation would help — and whether the answer is worth what it costs to get it. If it isn’t, we’ll say so.

We know how stressful it can be when valuable property goes missing. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive about our asset recovery investigations. If you don’t see your question here, contact Terrance Private Investigator & Associates for a confidential consultation.
Whatever you have. Serial or VIN numbers, titles or purchase records, photographs, rental or loan agreements, GPS or telematics data, insurance information, and the names of anyone with access. A police report number helps. If heavy equipment is involved, filing a free theft report with the National Equipment Register alongside your police report widens the net at no cost to you. If you are missing some of this, we can still start.
Yes. Stolen vehicles, trailers, construction and heavy equipment, and fleet assets are among the most common asset recovery cases we handle. We locate the property, document it thoroughly, and support lawful recovery through the appropriate parties. We do not seize property ourselves, and any investigator who tells you otherwise is not being straight with you. What we do is build the case that makes lawful recovery possible.
Vehicles, trailers, boats and watercraft, RVs and motorcycles, construction and agricultural equipment, cargo, business inventory, and commercial property. As a general rule, if it carries a title, a VIN, or a serial number, it is traceable. For vehicles, you can run the VIN yourself against the free NICB VINCheck database before you ever call us. Unmarked property is harder but not automatically hopeless, and we will tell you which category yours falls into during the consultation.
Most begin within 24 hours of engagement. We move fast on these because property in motion is easier to follow than property that has already been sold, parted out, or moved across state lines.
Yes. You'll receive a detailed investigative report outlining our findings, supporting documentation, photographs when available, and information that may assist attorneys, insurance companies, or law enforcement.
Absolutely. Every investigation is handled with professionalism, discretion, and strict confidentiality.
Yes. A significant share of our asset recovery work comes from businesses, fleet operators, equipment rental companies, and insurance carriers who need independent investigative support on a loss or a claim.
It happens, and we would rather say so than sell you something we cannot deliver. Some property is moved, altered, or destroyed before an investigation begins. Even then, a documented investigation often has real value, because it can support an insurance claim, a police report, or a civil case that would otherwise stall. We will give you a realistic assessment up front rather than after you have spent money.
If your vehicle, equipment, inventory, or other valuable property has gone missing, you do not have to figure out the next step alone. Our licensed private investigators are ready to help locate your property, document the evidence, and support lawful recovery. Contact us today for a confidential consultation and let’s talk through what your situation actually involves.
